…. Danny Pino (Cold Case) e Kelli Giddish (Chase).

“Law & Order: SVU – The Next Generation” is taking shape, with the news that Danny Pino (Cold Case) and Kelli Giddish (Chase) are both boarding the NBC crime drama as series regulars.

Pino was just last week mentioned as among the show’s short list to fill the void left by Chris Meloni, who did not ink a new deal to return to the series. On CBS’ Cold Case, he for seven seasons played Senior Detective Scotty Valens.

Giddish, meanwhile, will take on the role once mentioned in the same breath as Jennifer Love Hewitt, as a new lady cop picking up the slack when Mariska Hargitay scales down her workload come midseason. In addition to her runs on NBC’s Chase and before that Fox’s Past Life, Giddish recently guested on The Good Wife.

“I’m very pleased that we have two amazing actors joining the cast,” L&Overlord Dick Wolf said in a statement. “I know this combination will give us the opportunity to explore the world of SVU with new eyes.”

Says NBC entertainment boss Robert Greenblatt, “Kelli and Danny are two great actors who will join a proven cast headed by Mariska Hargitay as this exceptional series heads into a very promising 13th season.”

Speriamo la scelta sia azzeccata, io non posso dare opinioni perchè non conosco nessuno dei due. Vedremo….

In questi giorni sto cercando di aggiornare alcune guide degli episodi del sito, e precisamente:
- CI stagione 10 (e ultima): ultimerò la guida la prossima settimana, quando sarà andato in onda l’ultimo episodio della serie.
- CI stagione 4 e CI stagione 5: ho reinserito i riassunti che già avevo pubblicato nella precedente versione del sito.
- CI stagione 7: ho reinserito la pagina, aggiungendo alcuni riassunti (quelli degli episodi finali): cercherò di ultimare i rimanenti 8 al più presto.
- CI stagione 8: ho creato la pagina e inserito i primi 4 riassunti. I prossimi seguiranno man mano che Rete 4 trasmetterà gli episodi.
- SVU stagione 10: anche in questo caso, sto aggiungendo i riassunti mancanti (al momento 7) seguendo la messa in onda di Rete 4.

Un’altra cosa: mi è stato chiesto via mail se esiste un forum del sito, o su Law & Order, e se ho in programma di aprirne uno. La risposta, in breve, è no. Per un breve periodo questo sito ha avuto un forum, sul circuito forumup, che ho chiuso per scarso traffico. Poi la webmistress del sito su Elisabeth Rohm ha creato un forum, I Colori del Crimine, di cui trovate il link tra gli affiliati speciali qui a sinistra, dedicato a Law & Order e ad altre serie poliziesche, che però è stato abbandonato col tempo.
Quindi, per quanto un forum sulle serie Law & Order sarebbe un’ottima idea in teoria, in pratica credo che gli utenti sarebbero troppo pochi, data la scarsa diffusione che le serie hanno qui in Italia. Senza contare che, ormai, a stento riesco a trovare tempo per il sito, figurarsi per un forum….

Secondo l’informatissimo sito deadline.com, per il successore di Chris Meloni come protagonista di Law & Order: Unità Speciale i produttori avrebbero ristretto la rosa dei candidati a 5 attori: Danny Pino, Kevin Alejandro, David Conrad, Michael Raymond – James e Rhys Coiro. Stando all’articolo, proprio oggi gli attori sarebbero a New York per effettuare il provino.

PREVIOUS EXCLUSIVE 5 PM: Law & Order: SVU is going younger with its new male lead. I hear that Dick Wolf and NBC have narrowed the search for an actor to replace departing Chris Meloni to four actors – Danny Pino (Cold Case), Kevin Alejandro (True Blood, Southland), David Conrad (Ghost Whisperer) and Michael Raymond-James (Terriers). The four are being flown to New York where they will test tomorrow opposite returning SVU star Mariska Hargitay. Of the four, Alejandro and Raymond-James recently did guest spots on SVU. New NBC boss Bob Greenblatt said in May that the network “wants to keep refreshing an old franchise” with its changes to the veteran crime procedural. Hargitay, who recently adopted a baby, had asked for a lighter work schedule, so her character Det. Olivia Benson will be less prominent in the second half of next season, prompting the network and creator/executive producer Wolf to also look for a possible new female lead. From their early choice, Jennifer Love Hewitt, who is not happening, it looks like NBC and Wolf will be going younger on both the male and female side as they try to extend the series’ lifespan by several more years.

EXCLUSIVE UPDATE 6:30 PM: And then there were five. I’ve just learned that a fifth actor, Rhys Coiro (Entourage) is also on a plane to New York to test tomorrow for the Law & Order: SVU male lead.

USA Network ha diffuso il promo per l’ultimo episodio della stagione 10 di Law & Order: Criminal Intent, sottolineando che si tratta del series finale. Nonostante gli auspici di Dick Wolf e degli attori, quindi, non dovrebbero esserci ripensamenti da parte della rete sul destino della serie: la stagione 10 era stata annunciata come l’ultima e così sarà. Peccato perchè questo ultimo ciclo mi è sembrato migliore dei 2-3 precedenti.

Sam Waterston ha trovato un nuovo impiego. L’attore, dopo la lunghissima militanza nel compianto Law & Order, avrà infatti un ruolo regolare nel nuovo drama di Aaron Sorkin, More as the story develops, il cui pilot è in corso di lavorazione. Nello show Waterson interpreteràCharles Skinner, presidente della divisione news del cable channel per cui lavora l’anchormanWill McAllister (Jeff Daniels) e responsabile del reclutamento della sua ex fidanzata Mackenzie in qualità di produttore esecutivo.

Ricordo che Aaron Sorkin è un famosissimo sceneggiatore e produttore americano, noto per avere creato la serie cult The West Wing e vincitore dell’Oscar per la sceneggiatura di The Social Network.  Questo pilota, che verrà realizzato per la HBO, seguirà per l’appunto il dietro le quinte della redazione di un notiziario notturno in onda su una rete via cavo. Davvero un progetto interessante per Sam.

Per il resto, la stagione dei pilots per la stagione televisiva 2011-2012 non ha portato molta fortuna ai volti noti delle serie Law & Order.

S. Epatha Merkerson era stata scelta per il pilota della serie A Gifted Man ma  è stata sostituita in un secondo momento dall’attrice Margo Martindale.

Molto simile è quanto accaduto a Saffron Burrows (vista nella stagione 9 di Criminal Intent). L’attrice ha partecipato all’episodio di Bones che fungeva da ‘backdoor pilot’ per lo spinoff  The Finder, ma è stato da poco annunciato che il suo personaggio non comparirà nella serie, in onda sulla Fox dal prossimo autunno.
